LTL
Less-than-truckload shipping or less than load is the transportation of an amount of freight sized between individual parcels and full truckloads. Parcel carriers handle small packages and freight that can be broken down into units less than approximately 150 pounds. Full truckload carriers move entire semi-trailers.
Reefer
A refrigerated container or reefer is an intermodal container used in intermodal freight transport that is capable of refrigeration for the transportation of temperature-sensitive, perishable cargo such as fruits, vegetables, meat, and other similar items.
Dry Van
A dry van container is manufactured from steel, although aluminium has been used in the past (not often). These containers are used for the shipping of dry cargo and goods (hence the name), which are goods that don't have to be cooled during transportation and don't have any deviating dimensions.
Flatbed
A long flat platform of either 20ft, 40ft, 48ft or 53ft length used for carrying shipping containers. The flatbed trailer has no roof or walls to the side. It is a bare platform on which different container sizes are secured using container locks ready for transportation.
